ACTIVITIES REPORT

WP 5 - Inclusion of the ELS portal in the public training and education systems

Objectives of activities carried out:
1. To prepare a plan to activate at regional level the ELS@Work Project and to involve teachers and students in the use of the ELS portal
2. To establish contacts with regional institutions to promote participation in the training activities related to the learning of a language using the ELS portal.


3. To translate and revise editable Spanish version of the ELS portal brochure for dissemination purposes.
4. To carry out the plan to activate at regional level the ELS@Work Project and to involve teachers and students in the use of the ELS portal (2 Work groups and 2 General Presentations)
5. To design, organize and hold meetings with the above mentioned teachers in order to improve the ELS portal.
6. To establish contacts with regional institutions to promote participation in the training activities related to the learning of a language using the ELS portal.

7. To establish contacts with regional institutions to promote participation in the traning activities related to the learning of a language using the ELS portal.
8. To prepare a plan to involve 40 schools and teachers in the use of the ELS portal.

9. To include three seminar calls as officially recognised in-service training activities to involve teachers in the experimentation of the portal.
10. To disseminate the portal by means of the brochure.
11. To disseminate the portal through a blog to be consulted in the following link: http://blog.educastur.es/cprgijonllee/elswork/

12. To promote the inclusion of the ELS portal among the officially recognized tools for education and training at regional level.
13. To promote the official recognition of the skills acquired through the ELS portal.




Description of activities carried out:
1. One meeting with the head of the CPR Gijón to discuss the Tasks assignment of the WP5 for the reported period.
2. One meeting with the responsible person of the Training Programmes for Asturian teachers to include some of the ELS portal contents in a Seminar call.
3. One meeting with the responsible person of the Foreign Languages Programmes for Asturian teachers to include some of the ELS portal contents in a Work group call.
4. One meeting with the responsible person of the Vocational Training Programmes in Gijón to involve teachers in a Work group call, to start the 15th of April 2008.
5. One meeting with the responsible person of the Foreign Languages Programmes to involve teachers in a Seminar call, to start the 16th of April 2008.


6. One Meeting with the head of the CPR Gijón to discuss the Tasks assignment of the WP5 for the reported period.
7. Four Meetings with the 13 Language teachers involved in the work groups to pilot the ELS portal contents.
8. Two Meetings with the coordinators of the Foreign Languages Programmes for Asturian teachers to include some of the ELS portal contents in training activities next school year.
9. One Meeting with the responsible person of the Vocational Training Programmes in Asturias to inform about the activities of the Work groups in action.
10. One Meeting with the responsible person of the In-service Teachers Training Programmes to involve teachers in the on-line tutoring to start in September 2008.


11. One Meeting with the responsible person of the In-service Teachers Training Programmes to involve teachers in training activities, this would be a Group Call, to start November 2008.
12. One Meeting with the head of the CPR Gijón to discuss the Tasks assignment of the WP5 for the reported period.
13. Two Meetings with the 13 Language teachers involved in the work groups to provide feedback on the piloting of the ELS portal contents.

14. Translation into Spanish of the brochure explaining the portal to be sent to all Secondary Schools, Vocational Schools and Official Language Schools in Asturias. 300 copies of the brochure have been made and sent via traditional mail.
15. Three workshops with about 30 teachers have been carried out up to now.
16. Participation in a videoconference with a group of Italian teachers at Pixel, in Florence, to give a brief account on how Spanish teachers are using the portal with their students.
17. Design and feed a blog to disseminate the activities offered by the foreign languages advisor at the CPR Gijón:

17. To translate into Spanish the certificates that recognize the skills acquired by the users.


Outcomes:
1. Power point presentation about the plan to promote the ELS portal in Asturias.
2. Report describing the contacts planned to activate at regional level the ELS@Work Project and to involve teachers and students in the use of the ELS portal.
3. Contacts with language teachers and advisors in Asturias to let them know the ELS@Work project.

4. Translation of the English version of the ELS portal brochure into Spanish.
5. Edition of the Spanish brochure of the ELS portal for dissemination purposes.
6. Meetings with language teachers and advisors in Asturias to involve them in the ELS@Work project tasks.


7. Printing and mailing of the Spanish brochure of the ELS portal for dissemination purposes.
8. Inclusion of the ELS Project in three Group calls.
9. Planning of the training session for at least 40 teachers.

10. Development of three workshops with more than 40 teachers who are working with their students in the portal.

11. 31 teachers have obtained an officially recognized certificate for their participation in the workshop to test and evaluate the ELS portal.

12. 31 teachers have already tested and evaluated the portal and have, in some cases, evaluated their students using the results of the portal.

Evaluation of the work undertaken:
Promotion of the ELS portal to get regional public authorities and education stakeholders involved.

We find it very positive as the ELS portal is starting to be known among language teachers who have already expressed the uselfuness of the portal, especially for the vocational studies involving the learning of a foreign language.
