The knowledge of the foreign languages is a key element for a good employability. New Technologies can make the
language learning process more user friendly and enjoyable. Practical simulation and role-playing can be developed using appropriate interaction multimedia tools. Language students should have the opportunity to learn using these new tools which are based on the combination of different media. Language teachers and trainers should have the possibility to acquire the skills to use teaching strategies and materials that are based on an effective application of new technologies.
In this context the
European Commission has financed the ELS@Work project in the framework of the
Lifelong Learning Programme (Leonardo - Transfer of Innovation)
The project is coordinated by
Pixel in cooperation with partners from Belgium, Germany, Italy and Spain.
The aim of the ELS@WORK project is the promotion of the
ELS Portal.
The
ELS Portal is a powerful online resource for those who are willing to improve their language competence in a business context. The ELS Portal offers:
- 5 online language courses: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish.
- 10 Business Culture modules that offer a look into the different business environments of 10 European Countries.
- An online glossary of business terms is available in 8 different European languages.
- A personal development module that helps people recognise and develop their potential to succeed.
The ELS@WORK project made the
ELS Portal available to more than 120
secondary school teachers and to more than 140 employed people in European
Companies.
The
project partners have organised several
workshops involving the final users and promoting the use of the ELS Portal.
